The Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the proposed expansion of the Village at Squaw Valley was released on May 18, 2015. This release starts the 60 day Public Comment period, which will expire on July 17, 2015. This expansion proposal, if approved, would have significant environmental impacts on the valley according to the EIR. The Specific Plan proposes the construction of 850 dwelling units with a total of 1493 bedrooms. Some would be timeshares and fractional ownerships, others would be condo hotels and some high end hotels. The plan also includes a 90,000 sq. ft. Mountain Adventure Camp and 297,733 sq. ft. new commercial space.
