Alfred Knotts, transportation projects manager for Tahoe Transportation District, announced that a draft environmental document for the bridge project will be released on December 17th to be followed by a 60-day comment period. The purposes of this project are to correct structural deficiencies, reduce congestion and improve pedestrian, cyclist and driver safety. Six alternatives are being considered. Four of the alternatives include realignment of Highway 89 and repair or replacement of the landmark bridge; two would maintain Highways 89 and 28, and modify the “wye” intersection. The study report can be reviewed on the Tahoe Transportation District website.
The response to an inquiry of the Tahoe Transportation District as to the effect of this project on the Truckee River Restoration Project provided assurance that there will be no “direct, indirect or cumulative effect on the restoration efforts.” For complete details, click on one or more of the following links:
