All of Lake Tahoe’s summer activities are still in full swing. The beaches are still packed with people enjoying the sunshine and the water activities although now that schools in California and Nevada are starting we see fewer children each week. River Rafting on the Truckee River from Tahoe City to River Ranch has been open off and on this summer due to the Federal Water Master changing the flow. If rafting continues through Labor Day it will probably then close. The lake is still very full – within 2″ of the natural rim.
With the sun lower in the sky the really hot weather seems to be over and it feels like fall is just around the corner. After the Labor Day weekend, about the middle of September, we will start to see many of the concessions reduce the days they are open and then close. The wild flowers are in full bloom in the higher elevations and the several weeks of thunder storms have made the hiking and mountain biking trails more compacted and less dusty. My friends that golf say it couldn’t be better.
The Concerts at Commons Beach along with Kings Beach concerts and Truckee Thursdays will end in the first week of September. The outdoor dining at the many lake view restaurants will continue as long as the weather is nice.
We are now beginning to see a different group of guests, empty nesters, which will continue well into the fall as long as the golfing stays good and the color on the Aspen trees and Dogwoods start to change.
It is also a time of year when our real estate activity increases. It is a good time to buy!
Fall is a wonderful time of year in the Sierra. Come up and enjoy North Lake Tahoe,Squaw Valley and Truckee.
