Royal Gorge Dedication

On July 2nd hundreds of supporters including representatives of the Trust for Public Land and the Truckee Donner Land Trust celebrated the dedication of Royal Gorge, a world-renowned cross country ski area.  A grass roots campaign raised $11.25 million to buy the historic property, preserve it for recreation, and prevent development.  Nearly 1,400 people donated amounts between $5 and $1 million. Truckee Donner Land Trust will own the property and lease it to Sugar Bowl Ski Resort for winter recreation.  Public input is being solicited for expanded summer recreation opportunities.  Read the complete article at the Sierra Sun website.
