Day-to-day operations will be carried out by State Parks, and the Conservancy will subsidize a portion of the work. The parties provided assurances that the park will remain open year-round. Kings Beach State Recreation Area
As a follow-up to my previous article, Senator Ted Gaines and Assemblyman Brian Dahle have introduced a bill in the Legislature that would allow local management and funding for the Kings Beach State Recreation Area to continue. It also provides for the North Tahoe Public Utility District to obtain ownership of the park. The NTPUD has adopted a resolution which states, in part, that the community Continue Reading

Since 1978 the North Tahoe Public Utility District has managed the state-owned Kings Beach State Recreation Area. While the agreement between the two parties expired in December 2008, the NTPUD has continued to manage the park on a month-to-month basis. Revised Proposal Reduces Village Expansion By 1/3rd!
It seems that KSL Capital Partners has listened to the public response to the original Village at Squaw Valley Expansion plan. When the original development plan was first introduced more than a year ago, it got a strong negative reaction from both local property owners and businesses, long time Squaw Valley skiers and environmentalists. It caused a local grassroots movement resulting in Continue Reading

In 2013 the North Tahoe, Squaw Valley and Truckee residential real estate market increased over 2012 in both units sold (1359) and dollar volume of sales ($931,156,320). This was a continuation of what we have seen over the last three years. 2011 was a good year, 2012 was significantly better than 2011 and 2013 was slightly better than 2012. However there are some notable changes. By the end Continue Reading
Squaw Valley Contemplates A Martis Valley Water Option
Squaw Valley Public Service District is looking for a backup water supply to meet the needs of its customers in the unlikely circumstance of a contamination event to the Squaw Valley Aquifer. One of the options is a $30 million alternative to pump water from Martis Valley. The problem is not a new one; SVPSD has been considering it for twenty years. In a 2009 study, side drainages along the Continue Reading
