While Lake Tahoe residents and visitors await the big snow, it is time to plan for winter safety in your automobile. We all hate the problems that arise when accidents, breakdowns and injuries cause traffic to come to a standstill.
Here are some tips: Don’t drive too fast or slam on the brakes or you will surely be spinning around in the snow. Other driving tips are just common sense: don’t follow too closely; keep your windows, head lights and tail lights free of snow; before driving after a snow storm, remove all of the snow from the roof, hood and trunk; take corners and curves slowly; slow down or pull off the road and stop if you feel overwhelmed.
Some simple preparations will help to make your trip trouble-free. To remove ice from your windshield and windows have a squirt bottle filled with 2/3rd vinegar and 1/3rd water in your car. Squirt this on the glass and be amazed; it is much easier and nicer than using a scraper.
