A locally spearheaded move to reduce traffic and parking congestion in both Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows has been approved by Placer County. The plan is for on demand shuttle service that will pick up and drop of customers in areas that are close to the regular Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) routes that feed both Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley resorts. Customers will access the service through a smart phone app. This will be funded by a 1% fee attached to daily lift tickets and lodging costs. 62.5% of the affected businesses signed a petition asking for the approval of this Micro Transit program. The shuttle service will start in December of this year and the business will start collecting the additional fees October 1st.
