Westshore Lake Tahoe
The Westshore is the Best Shore – often heard local comment.
This part of the Lake is quieter, more forested, less developed, and a bit more rustic. There are several small communities that make up the Westshore, each with its own unique characteristics. This area offers only a few services like gas stations, small grocery stores, and few restaurants. That being said whether you are enjoying the sun rise on one of the many beaches, to hiking around the Ehrman Mansion in Sugar Pine Point State Park, the lake views from these areas are spectacular. The Westshore is accessed from Hwy 89 from either Tahoe City to the north or South Lake Tahoe to the south. This part of the lake offers the best sunrise vantage points of any at Lake Tahoe as well as lots of water access for sailing, wave runners, water skiing, kayaking and paddle boarding, hiking and mountain biking, and snowmobiling. As well as access to Homewood and Alpine Meadows ski resorts and the best back-country skiing the Lake has to offer. The Westshore has many different and unique neighborhoods;
- Tahoe Park and Sunnyside
- Talmont Estates and Twin Peaks Estates
- Alpine Peaks
- Pineland and Tiberland
- Tahoe Pines
- Homewood
- Chamberlands
- Tahoma
- Meeks Bay
- Rubicon Bay
Each neighborhood has its own characteristics that offer the type of vacation experience that bring people back year after year. From the classic “Old Tahoe” style home in the forest to the newer larger luxury home on the lake, to the large private estates, this special area has it all.
