Kingsbury
The Kingsbury neighborhood is the area surrounding Kingsbury Grade (Nevada State Route 207 ) which leads to the Nevada side of the Heavenly Ski Resort and down into Carson Valley. The area is generally divided into three parts; lower, middle, and upper.
The neighborhood located at the lowest portion of Kingsbury Grade (from Juniper Street down,) is lower Kingsbury. This area is made up of approximately 350 homes and lots ranging from a mobile home park off of Ponderosa to the luxurious million dollar-plus homes of Granite Springs.
The Middle Kingsbury neighborhood is made up of homes, condominiums and lots. Many of these homes are situated on large sloping lots featuring a blend of pines, aspens and granite boulders and some filtered lake views.
The Upper Kingsbury area rests atop the crest with stunning views in either direction; west to Lake Tahoe and east to Carson Valley. This area is made up of a blend of single family homes ranging from small alpine chalets, and cabins to magnificent estates with views. Many homes are close to the Nevada side of Heavenly Ski Resort and are as close to “Ski In / Ski Out” as one will find throughout the South and East Lake Tahoe areas.
Throughout the area are Forest Service lots with access to recreation trails ideal for hiking, biking and cross country skiing. At the bottom of Kingsbury, on the Lake Tahoe side, are schools, parks and all varieties of grocery stores, pharmacies, a post office, banks, the major casinos, restaurants, the spectacular Edgewood Golf Course, dining, and entertainment. On the other side of Kingsbury Grade is the Carson Valley, historical Genoa community, the natural hot springs at Walleys, championship golf courses bike riding, hiking, and major shopping chains such as Home Depot, Costco and Target can also be easily accessed.
