Donner Summit

The Donner Summit area including Pla Vada, Soda Springs, Kingvale, Norden, and Serene Lakes, is not a place for those shy of the snow. Most of these residents are second homeowners with a few full timers who brave out the heavy snowfall each winter. Some homes can only be accessed by skis or snowmobiles during heavy winters. There is access to many trail-heads for hiking and mountain biking in the summer. For those looking for peace and quiet and serenity, this is an area to consider.  Close to some of the best cross country skiing in the Tahoe area at Royal Gorge, you can also enjoy downhill skiing at nearby Sugar Bowl, Soda Springs, Donner Ski Ranch or Boreal Ridge.
