Donner Lake

Donner Lake lake was formed by glacial activity and is nearly 3 miles long, half a mile wide and 600 feet deep. Recreation includes fishing, sailing, kayaking, wave runners, boating and water skiing. There is a private beach club with a marina for members of the Donner Lake Property Owners Association and the West End Beach is a public sandy beach with a picnic area, a playground and snack bar, plus a boat launch.

From rustic cabins to condominiums and lakefront custom homes, this area is commonly requested for vacation rentals and locals and is a short drive to golfing, shopping and dining in Truckee, and to skiing on Donner Summit, at Northstar or Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley) and Alpine Meadows. Summer activities include hiking, biking, rock climbing, swimming, sailing and paddle boarding. Don’t miss the very popular 4th of July fireworks show.
