The Cedar Flat, Ridgewood Highlands, and Carnelian Heights neighborhoods area is located on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe a short distance from Tahoe City. This neighborhood, often referred to by locals as “Old County” because of the main road through the subdivisions, is comprised of several separate subdivisions: Ridgewood Highlands, Carnelian Heights, Fulton Acres , and Cedar Flat.  Homes in this area are on a mixture of public roads and some shared private roads and most homeowners are members of an association offering a gated lakefront property with a two-level pier and buoy field.  This region is heavily wooded but offers lake views in some locations. 

This neighborhood is a mixture of large single family homes, cabins, and vacation homes. Many full time residents enjoy this neighborhood because of the quiet wooded feel, and because the area offers easy access to the National Forest land at the base of Mt Watson with many hiking and mountain biking trails, snowmobile access, and a Multi Use Trail that connects to the Tahoe City bike path. It is a 20-minute drive from both Alpine Meadows and Palisades Tahoe ski areas and a 30-minute drive from Northstar ski area for winter recreation.
