The first concert of the 2013 Tahoe City Summer Concert series started tonight with the 4th Annual Mumbo Gumbo/Tahoe Gal concert. It was a beautiful early summer evening and a terrific concert by the very popular Northern California band. This is a free concert for anyone in a water craft (sail boat, power boat, kayack or paddle board) and there are a limited number of tickets sold for those who want to be on the Tahoe Gal with Mumbo Gumbo. The Tahoe Gal anchors several hundred yards off of Commons Beach, in Tahoe City and the top deck serves as the stage. The band sets up facing east, away from the beach, and any water craft can position themselves around the back of the Tahoe Gal and enjoy the concert. Those of us who were on the Gal were on the top deck with the band. Larry & Cheryl (the owners of the Tahoe Gal) served great hors d’oeuvres and then prime rib sandwiches during the bands break. It was a fantastic experience! Mumbo Gumbo will be appearing again in Tahoe City this summer on Commons Beach on Aug. 11, 2013 and again next year in mid June on the Tahoe Gal. Don’t miss this fun event.
