On Sunday, June 1, 2014, the 72-mile America’s Most Beautiful Ride—Lake Tahoe begins and ends in Stateline Nevada on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. As you travel clockwise around the Lake you will encounter a challenging 800 foot climb to a rest stop overlooking Emerald Bay and then, on the north end of the Lake, a 1,000 foot climb to Spooner Junction. There is a total of over 4,024 vertical feet of elevation gain! The altitude ranges between 6,300 feet and 7,100 feet and the ride is “recommended for conditioned recreational bicyclists” only. Rest stops providing food and drink are conveniently located around the course. You will enjoy the exhilaration of the ride and the scenic beauty of the course. You won’t want to miss the Big Blue Adventure—Lake Tahoe Mountain Bike Ride on Saturday June 21st in Burton Creek State Park in Tahoe City. It is 12.6 mile course and you may choose between an eight-hour race or a four-hour race as a team or you can ride solo, and the most laps wins. The course is on both fire road and single track trails with approximately 700 feet of climbing and descent in each lap.
