Airbnb income is a great boost in offsetting the cost of owning a home in the Tahoe Truckee area. This is true for both vacation home owners and full time residents. According to a May 17th article in the Sierra Sun, there was a 48% increase in Airbnb guests this ski season in the Lake Tahoe area over last year’s ski season. That translated into 185,000 visitors, the majority of which were in December. The article goes on to say
- Bay area residents accounted for more that 50% of the visitors.
- 33% of the visits were on weekends.
- Truckee hosts received $7,9 million from 37,200 guests.
- $19,400 was the typical earnings for Carnelian Bay hosts in the last 12 months.
