Kings Beach in North Lake Tahoe is about to start a major improvement project in its core commercial district. Scheduled to start construction this summer this project will add much needed sidewalks, bike lanes and more parking along Hwy 28 through a 1.1 mile section in the center of town. The goal is multi faceted; improve pedestrian access, bicycle access, drainage water mitigation, add bus shelters and generally improve the visual appearance of this popular beach town. The plan includes changing that stretch of Hwy from four lanes to three lanes and adding two roundabouts. This result of many years of studies and community meetings.
