Michelle Parker was born in Truckee and grew up skiing at Squaw Valley. She strapped on her first skis (with mom and dad’s help) at age one. As she grew older, Michelle started to get into ski racing, but at age 15 decided her passion was freeskiing. A year later she competed in her first US Ski Open.
Her advice to newcomers in the skiing world? “Do it because you love it!” A place winner in everything from the 2009 Aspen Open to the Winter X Games Invitational, Parker has worked her way through injuries and back to living an eco-conscious life as a professional skier.
In her late teens, she found a love for back-country skiing and attended a heli-guide school in Alaska. Put Michelle on the top of a virgin mountain, and her exuberance shows as she flies down the terrain. She has since appeared in several ski films, including the recent “Fade to Winter” where she was nominated for Powder’s “Best Female Performance.”
Michelle keeps in touch with fans on her Facebook page. She lives in Tahoe City and participates in other sports, including mountain biking. She believes in giving back to her sports life, and is on the board of the High Fives Foundation, which helps injured athletes.
