FOAM has as its mission the preservation of the identity, character and culture of the Alpine Meadows resort. Of late, the resort has been bundled with its neighbor Squaw Valley and seems to be losing its unique identity. KSL Capital Partners acquired both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows and has combined operations between the two. The two resorts are now referred to as Squaw Valley|Alpine Meadows. The Alpine Meadows logo has been eliminated along with its website. Other eliminations that FOAM would like to see reinstated are the separate ticket and pass for Alpine as well as affordable kids’ programs including less expensive kids’ tickets and lessons. Shanda Kenyon, a FOAM steering committee member, has said that “We want to take the community’s input and present that to. . .management in a positive way.” In that pursuit, FOAM has posted an online survey on its website. To date 400 surveys have been submitted. The website is a venue for local families and long-time patrons to have their voices heard and for their comments and concerns to be forwarded to KSL. For further information, read the entire article in the Sierra Sun and click on the FOAM website for more discussion of their goals.
