The 3rd annual Vertical Challenge ski race, sponsored by the Rex Foundation, will be held March 31, 2017 at Squaw Valley. This harrowing event is for the daredevil skier and extreme sports enthusiast who love their adrenaline running overtime. Fire on the Mountain is a test of endurance and strategy where teams will ski/ride over 1000,000 vertical feet!
Registration begins at 7:30am or purchase your tickets online. Racers can register individually or as a team. Skiers receive a Friday lift ticket, admission to the Rex Foundation after-party, and a VIP pass to the WinterWonderGrass Festival, where the winners will be announced Friday night at 8pm on the main stage. All proceeds from the Vertical Challenge go to the Rex Foundation; 50% of donations will be allocated to local charities in the Olympic Valley/Truckee area.
Teams will complete compulsory runs early in Friday morning. Once completed, skiers are free to choose their lifts and terrain to rack up vertical scores. The Vertical Challenge event will be finished by 2:30 pm, with plenty of time for viewers and participants to enjoy the festivities of the WinterWonderGrass Festival also held at Squaw Valley.
