Dust off your hiking boots and enjoy miles and miles of trails as you hike around the Lake Tahoe Basin. There are many breathtaking views available for your delight. The very little amount of snow that we got this winter is now melting fast and the trails are opening much earlier this year than usual.
• If you would like an easy hike, check out Fallen Leaf Lake, Van Sickle Bi-State Park, Ward Canyon to Paige Meadows, or Stateline Fire Lookout.
• If you consider yourself a medium hiker, you can begin right outside our front door in Shirley Canyon to Shirley Lake. Other medium hikes include Aloha Lake, Mt. Rose and Marlette Lake.
• If you have enough time and a tent, you can undertake the Tahoe Rim Trail. The 165-mile trail traverses the rim of peaks that surround Lake Tahoe, and can be divided into sections for those who want a shorter hike. The trail can be accessed at several locations: Blackwood Canyon, Ward Canyon, Tahoe City, Brockway Summit, Mt. Rose, Spooner Summit, Big Meadow and Echo Lakes.
