Golf Course Properties

The Lake Tahoe and Truckee area and the Graeagle area in Plumas County, offer 25 unique golf courses from small, quaint, 9 hole courses to  signature 18 hole championship courses.   Many of these courses have received very high ratings from the major golf magazines.  Beautiful sunny days, mild temperatures and clear mountain air make this area a golfer’s paradise.  The season usually starts in the Spring and runs through the late Fall.  Most of the courses are public , some are private.  Scroll down for a list of all of the golf courses in this area.

Many of these golf courses were created a number of years ago and are now surrounded by homes and in some cases condominiums, and have few if any, building sites available for purchase.  The newer courses (in Truckee, Martis Valley and Plumas County) still have building sites available, completed homes and in some cases, condominiums for sale.  The type of homes and condominiums that are listed for sale vary widely; from modest dwellings in the mid price range, to very large craftsman style mountain lodges.

The three communities in North Lake Tahoe that have golf courses with bordering home sites are Kings Beach and Olympic Valley, on the California side of the state line and Incline Village on the Nevada side.

Kings Beach

Old Brockway Golf Course in Kings Beach is surrounded by an older quaint neighborhood with both smaller affordable homes and some very nice larger custom homes.

Olympic Valley

Everline Resort and Spa (formerly the Resort at Squaw Creek) is a four star condo hotel with an 18 hole Championship Golf Course.  There are often condominiums in the hotel listed for sale.  There are also a few golf course homes in the development that are rarely listed for sale.

Incline Village

In Incline Village there are two golf courses each surrounded by very nice homes:

• Championship Course
• Mountain Course

Martis Valley Golf Courses

Martis Valley encompasses the Golf and Ski Resort Community of

• Northstar with several Luxury housing developments, condos, and the Ritz Carlton, as well as an 18 hole championship Golf Course, the Northstar Golf Course

and the gated golf communities of;

• Schaffer’s Mill on a 475 acre private community development with an 18 hole par 71  Johnny Miller/John Harbottle Championship  Golf Course & Lake Club (Semi-Private).
• Martis Camp is a Ski in-Ski Out property with direct access to the Northstar Ski Resort and a private 18 hole Tom Fazio Golf Course (Private)
• Lahontan is North Lake Tahoe and Truckee’s first private gated golf community with an 18 hole championship golf course designed by Tom Weiskoph, the Lahonton Golf Club (Private)

These exclusives courses are located east of Truckee just off of Hwy 267 on Schaffer’s Mill Road.  Each of these gated communities have design review committees, with high architectural standards, which has resulted in some of the finest homes in the entire area.   Each of these neighborhoods have signature championship golf courses with clubhouses and community centers that offer many amenities; dining, swimming, tennis, spa and fitness facility and family recreation centers.  Martis Valley offers unparalleled luxury ski and golf communities.  The homes listed for sale in these communities can only be shown by appointment.

Truckee Area Golf Courses

There are four golf courses in the Truckee Area, some are private and some are semi private.  There are several communities and residential developments that line the golf courses. 

• Coyote Moon Golf Course
• The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing (Semi-Private)
• Old Greenwood Golf Course (Semi-Private)
• Ponderosa Golf Course
• Tahoe Donner Golf Course (Semi-Private)

South Lake Tahoe Golf Courses

South Lake Tahoe has several public Golf courses with communities and residential developments that line the golf courses as well as two private gold clubs and communities.

• Glenbrook Club is a private golf club located in the private community of Glenbrook, and access to the club is predicated on living in the community of Glenbrook and Uppaway Estates
• Clear Creek Tahoe is a private golf club and community located on the eastern slope of the Sierra along Hwy 50. Homes are luxury estates with a few open homesites available.
• Edgewood Golf Course is a public, world-renown Tom Fazio 18 hole champion golf course with only a small neighborhood in the proximity.
• Lake Tahoe Golf Course is a public course located in Meyers and is surrounded by an older quaint neighborhood.
• Tahoe Paradise Golf Course is a public course located in Tahoe Paradise and is surrounded by an older quaint neighborhood with both smaller affordable homes and some very nice larger custom homes.

Plumas Area Golf Courses

The 2006 Golf Digest’s list of the hottest retirement destinations for golfers named Plumas County as #15 in the nation. In south eastern Plumas County the  communities of Whitehawk Ranch, Plumas Pines Golf Resort, The Dragon at Nakoma Resort (Gold Mountain) and Graeagle Meadows are newer and offer very nice modern luxury homes built around these excellent golf courses:
