Camping Opportunities in the Lake Tahoe Area
Camping. The word evokes many memories, from blissful spending time with grandpa in the RV to fending off raccoons in your canvas flap tent. Camping in the North Lake Tahoe: there’s a campground for every type of camper: off-the-grid, family and solo tent camping, rustic cabins, and the RV parks with all the amenities.
Forest Service campgrounds have limits on the number of days per year and the number of occupants. North Lake Tahoe has 25 designated campground areas. It’s important to consider your interests and recreational time when reviewing a potential campground. Hiking, boating, swimming, fishing, partying, getting-away-from-it-all, or gathering with a group of friends are common things campers are interested in; be sure to choose a campground area that caters to your needs. Sagehen Creek campground is remote and rustic, while Alder Creek campground has flush toilets, sites for both tents and RVs, and the perfect location for several magnificent hikes. Plan to make reservations; many campsites are booked far ahead.
