Get ready to bob your head, tap your toes, and let your taste buds dance on August 13 and 14th. Squaw Valley is hosting the Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest where you can sample from 40 different beers for $5 each while listening to some catchy beats and smooth notes. Bands will be playing on the main stage from 2 to 8pm and second stage both Saturday and Sunday.
The main stage features 3 bands each day.
Saturday August 13
From 2-4 you can catch Mojo Green, a band that refers to themselves as “a 7-piece Horn Driven Soul Funk Machine
Between 4 and 6 the Polyrhythmics take the stage to share their “moden afro-psycho-beat sound.
The headliner for Saturday is Marc Broussard, you can watch the video below for a flavor of his music. He’s on stage from 6-8pm.
Sunday August 14
2-4 pm the groove of of JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound will be on the stage. Here’s a taste of their sound:
Eli Paperboy Reed plays his brand of soul between 4 and 6pm, followed by headliner The Main Squeeze from 6-8 pm, who blend funk, soul and rock n’ roll into “feel-good musical gumbo.”
The Second Stage will feature the Earles of Newtown both days between 3:30 and 6 pm with a 30 minute break between 4:30 and 5. They call their original style “Swingin’ Dixie” which harkens from Harlem, New Orleans & Hot Jazz mixed with Texas and Western Swing infludences. Nevada City Chamber of Commerce awarded “Best Live Band of 2014.”
Tahoe, beer, and music can only be made better by having our best friend by our side! Your four-legged buddies are welcome to join you since this event is also a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Tahoe-Truckee. Your $5 entry fee goes directly to their organization.
There are lots of ways and places in Tahoe to “get your groove on” but the Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest at Squaw Valley is one of the best places to do so!
