Tahoe is a great destination for families year round. In winter there are many great activities to explore aside from the famous ski areas and snowsports for which Tahoe is known. Here are some great ideas to involve the whole family!
Disco Tubing
Disco tubing is the family-friendly party where you spin down the tubing lanes to music and lights! Snowvetures Activity Zone is a great place for tubing with the whole family with colorful LED lights, lasers and live DJs from 5-8pm.

Times: 5pm, 6pm, and 7pm
Snow tubing sessions are 55 minutes long and begin at the top of the hour

Ice Skating
Northstar has a great ice scatting rink located in the heart of the village. A perfect place for a family outing or a romantic date. Go skating and then head to one of the great restaurants in the village for dinner or catch a movie at the Northstar theater. The skating rink opens every day at 2 pm. Tahoe City Winter Sports Park
Sledding, ice skating and cross-country skiing are all available at the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park in downtown Tahoe City. A great place to play and enjoy the snow with the whole family right in the heart of Tahoe City.

Snowshoeing
Tahoe Adventure Company offers guided snowshoe hikes both during the day and full moon and star gazing tours. You can even opt into a warm drink and a grommet lunch while getting some exercise and learning about the local flora and fauna from one of their experienced snowshoe guides. Kidzone Museum
The Kidzone Museum in Truckee offers exploration areas, nature programs, art studio space, indoor play spaces, and other ways to engage young minds. Open to babies, toddlers, and kids. Check their website for information and special programs.
Sleigh Rides
Take a Sleigh Ride at Sand Harbor State Park! The 1 hour private horse drawn sleigh ride travels along spectacular Lake Tahoe with a private narrated tour with stories, and poems, and caroling

Tram Ride
Enjoying the beauty of Olympic Valley with the aerial tram, which takes riders a breathtaking 2,000 feet up the mountain to High Camp. Kids will love the excitement of the tram swinging past the towers and waving at the other tram as it passes. There is also a restaurant at the top for lunch or a quick snack and a museum dedicated to the 8th winter Olympics held at Olympic Valley in 1960.
Sledding at Granlibakken
Granlibakken is a small resort located just south of Tahoe City. It features a small ski hill with a rope tow and a sled hill. It is a great area for kids to sled or learn how to ski for a low cost and a lot of convenience. For sledding the cost is $20 per person ($25 during holidays), kids get unlimited rides down their monitored hill and a saucer sled for one-and-a-half hours. For the rope tow and skiing tickets are $30 – $40 per person for a full day.
