There’s a number of fun and challenging golf courses in our area each with their own unique flavor. Here’s a list of 10 golf courses near Squaw Valley:
- The Links at Squaw Creek is a championship course nestled at the base of Squaw Valley/ Alpine Meadows. Renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. spent 10 years designing this course to reflect the grandeur of the towering mountains. The Links at Squaw Creek is recognized by Audubon International as a Cooperative Sanctuary, and works to continue their ecologically-sound environmental plan. A season pass for unlimited play is $619.00
- The Tahoe City Golf Course is a 9-hole public course. There is a bar and grille next to the Pro Shop for after-game refreshment. Call 530.583.1516 for reservations and rates.
- Designer Tom Weiskopf blended classical and contemporary together when he created the Lahontan Golf Club. It’s an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole par 3 course that give players a rewarding game. A golf membership also includes amenities at The Lodge
- The Northstar Golf Course was designed by Robert Muir Grave and is an 18-hole, par-72 course. Play 18 holes with a cart for as low as $45, or get a season pass for as little as $399. The Martis Valley Grille offers great food and lovely views of the Martis Valley meadow.
- Jack Nicklaus designed the Olde Greenwood Golf Course. It’s a private golf course that is part of the Tahoe Mountain Club The 18-hole course rests in the mountains with stunning views. Membership information is available for both the golf course and Tahoe Mountain Club.
- Coyote Moon Golf Course is a fair yet challenging course, also in the Truckee area. It meanders over 250 acres of hills, meadows, and wildflowers. Course rates range from $100 to $160. Designer Brad Bell incorporated granite outcroppings and the close-by Trout River into the natural design.
- The Ponderosa Golf Course is part of the Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District. There is an 18-hole and 9-hole course available. A season pass for an adult is $510.
- The Old Brockway Golf Course was home of the first Bing Crosby Golf Tournament in 1934. The Scottish architect John Duncan Dunn created the Kings Beach course, and it was built by Harry Comstock.
- Gray’s Crossing is a traditional golf course with tournament greens that offer a challenging play. Peter Jacobsen and Gray Hardy designed the 18-hole course. Public fees for course play range from $75-150.
- Lastly, Schaffer’s Mill has a private golf course built in 2008. There are limited opportunities for non-member play. The course is part of a four-season family community with ongoing construction.
