The Ta-hoe Nalu festival, the oldest paddle festival in the world, returns to Kings Beach in North Lake Tahoe for a full weekend of fun in the Aloha spirit. Registration is Friday from 2-6pm, and the entire weekend is full of demos, races, clinics, tours, shows, music and more. There will be an extensive vendor and exhibitor village Saturday and Sunday from 8am – 4pm, highlighted by local retailers. Many of the clinics and races are free, as are other festivities perfect for the whole family. The entire schedule can be seen on the Ta-hoe Nalu site.
The festival will be held at Kings Beach State Recreation Area. There are demos and races for all abilities and age groups. Highlights include a free concert on Friday featuring Keyser Soze, a six-piece reggae soul band, and a traditional Polynesian dance show Saturday to start off the fun. Award ceremonies will be held at the end of each race, some with raffles. The kids can participate in a sand castle building contest on Saturday. There will be fabulous food offerings from well known Tahoe favorites such as Jake’s on the Lake, Mamasake, Souper Wagon, Hot and Healthy Foods, and Island Ice.
This will be a fun, exciting time for all, and a chance to see amazing SUP athletes, as well as participate yourself if you choose to. You can even experience Yoga Paddle firsthand!
