“Over the past five years, stand-up paddleboarding has been embraced by the Tahoe community like a bear hug from a best friend” as stated in a May 10th article in Moonshine Ink. No longer limited to quiet coves, the sport has expanded to include back country adventures and race course events. Six major races will be held in the Tahoe/Truckee area beginning with the Donner Cup on May 25th. For beginners, races will be held at Donner Lake’s West End Beach on Friday nights and include free entry and free board rentals. Increasingly popular is the exploration of the back country. Inflatable paddleboards are gaining in popularity because of the ease of transporting them. A deflated board can be packed into the wilderness to explore pristine lakes and rivers. Both race boards and inflatable paddleboards are available in the Tahoe/Truckee area.
