The very popular cross country ski area is now going to become a summer mountain biking center. This is an area with a great network of trails that I have been riding for 26 years. These trails and parking in the lot are free and open to the public. Tahoe XC is going to offer trailhead services in their lodge, snacks for the ride or sandwiches, smoothies, salads, etc. either before or after riding. They will also have a variety of Specialized mountain bikes to rent, from hard tails to high end dual suspension bikes for both adults and children of all ages. Riders can also rent helmets, and purchase tire repair kits and water bottles. Riders should come with proper riding clothes; loose fitting shorts, tennis shoes, etc.
Tahoe XC will also be hosting a number of interesting and exciting events over the summer; mountain bike races, skills clinics and group rides. The trails are a mixture of both fire roads and many great single tracks through forested areas and beautiful mountain meadows. There is something for all ability levels; easy rides without much elevation gain to long difficult climbs and everything in between. If you are up for it you can ride to Watson Lake, take the Tahoe Rim Trail to Brockway Summit, or the Western States Trail to Squaw Valley. If you like to ride, check this out, and if you want a partner to give you a guided tour contact me and if our schedules can match up I’ll show you around.
