North Lake Tahoe

North Lake Tahoe, the area between the Stateline and Tahoe City, is called “Tahoe’s Banana Belt” by locals because it gets less snowfall and more sun than the Westshore. Several of the communities host a number of very nice restaurants, some lakefront. It is accessed from four directions; on the south by Hwy 89 from the Westshore, from Incline Village on the north by Hwy 28 and from the Truckee to the west from both Hwy 89 South to Tahoe City or Hwy 267 to Kings Beach. This area offers good sun exposure, sandy beaches, lots of water access for sailing, wave runners, water skiing, kayaking and paddle boarding, hiking and mountain biking, back country skiing and snowmobiling and easy access to the major downhill ski areas; Palisades Tahoe, Alpine Meadows and Northstar. The Northshore has some very distinctly different neighborhoods, each of which offers a unique lifestyle for both local residents or vacation home owners. Starting with the Stateline on the north, the main neighborhoods are;

Buyers interested in the North Lake Tahoe area have many different types of properties to choose from; “Old Tahoe cabins in woodsy environments, contemporary custom homes (some with great lake views), to exclusive North Lake Tahoe lakefront estates (many with buoys and private piers). A number of the subdivisions have Home Owners Associations with private beach access, piers, buoys, and some with tennis courts and swimming pools. For those who do not want to have to deal with maintaining a property there is a large selection of condominiums, many offering lots of amenities and some in lakefront condo developments with a mixture of lakefront condominiums and non lakefront units.
