Who else has started to count down to Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows Ski Season Opening Day? I have! Did you know they are planning for an early opening to the 2016-2017 season?
If the weather is cool enough Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows is preparing to open sometime during the week of November 11th! They will put a 1-million-dollar investment into snow making enhancements to good use by getting the equipment revved up early. The multitude of hardware updates made over the off-season will allow the resort to make more high quality snow faster with increased efficiency.
Management has also invested in two new groomers for the steep slopes at Squaw as well as two more grooming machines for the terrain park at Alpine Meadows. They’ve purchased additional snow removal equipment to ensure getting in and out of the resort on big snow days is as fast and efficient as possible. Overall, Squaw Alpine has invested almost 3 million this year for snow grooming and removal services.
The timing of these upgrades is well thought out since the snow forecast for Squaw Valley is expected to be 5-10% above average! According to OnTheSnow.com El Niño is transitioning to La Niña which will change the average position of the jet stream bringing more cold precipitation our way.
Bring it on La Niña! See you on the slopes!
