In a list of the 25 World’s Best Ski Towns National Geographic ranked Truckee as number 16. Of the 13 ski
towns on the list that are in the USA Truckee was 8th and it was the only California town on the list. According to National Geographic what Truckee is best for is; “Families with aspiring ski or rider rock star kids; also, ski and rider rock stars.” The article goes on to say that our ski areas receive some of the highest average snowfall in the country. Squaw Valley is referred to as Truckee’s “alpha mountain” known for its extreme terrain. It gives recommendations of where to go and what to do from former US Ski Team and local ski hero, Daron Rahlves.
